Meals

At Borrego Pass Community School, we believe that good nutrition is essential for supporting learning. Our cafeteria serves balanced meals that provide students with the energy and focus they need throughout the school day. We follow national and state nutrition guidelines to ensure all meals meet high standards for health and wellness.
Healthy Eating Commitment
We encourage students to make healthy choices both at school and at home. Our nutrition program focuses on preventing health issues related to poor diets, such as obesity and diabetes. In collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture and the New Mexico Public Education Department, we ensure all meals meet nutritional guidelines.
Cafeteria Rules
To keep mealtimes enjoyable and efficient, we ask students to follow these simple cafeteria rules:
- Always model good behavior.
- Only bottled water, milk, and juice from the cafeteria line are allowed. Tea, sodas, sports drinks, or energy drinks are prohibited.
- All electronic devices must be kept out of sight.
- Remove all headgear before entering, including headphones.
- Use only the designated entrance to enter the cafeteria.
- Activities such as shoving, running, shouting, fighting, or throwing food are strictly prohibited.
- Students are responsible for cleaning their eating area and disposing of all trash in designated trash cans.
- Students may request second helpings only after everyone has been served once. Additional servings may not always be available.
- Sponsors of after-school activities, including clubs, classes, tutoring sessions, and sports, are responsible for supervising their students during dinner (if applicable).

Breakfast and Lunch
We provide breakfast and lunch daily, offering a variety of options to accommodate different tastes and dietary needs. Our meals include fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein-rich foods. We limit added sugars and unhealthy fats to promote overall well-being.
